This pilot later attacked Kavieng in Papua, New Guinea, and supported the landings at Rabaul in the Bismarck Archipelago. He also bombed Port Darwin, conducted the operations in Java, attacked Chirachappu and Christmas Island, and raided Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), sinking HMS Hermes there.
